Hi [First Name],

Welcome to the SDR Hire Insights - lessons from 20+ outbound sales and SDR hiring projects over the last 3+ years.

Today I'll share my process for assessing the state of GTM motions of my clients.

I use this checklist to prepare the company for onboarding the SDRs they'll hire.

There’s nothing worse than onboarding an A player to a B or C level process.

Or even worse - no process at all.

Mind you, these top performers - they’ll crush whatever is in front of them, but we don’t want to leave any room for doubt when we have an A player working for us.

To properly onboard SDRs we have to find out what’s the current state of the GTM motion:

  • Do they know how to describe their product?
  • Do they know how to explain the value?
  • Do they know exactly who they’re selling to?

Most importantly: Is there a repeatable process in place that they know is working - scripts, messages, triggers?

Here’s the exact checklist I use:

  1. Step 1: Understanding the Product - what, how, why
  2. Step 2: Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) – Company characteristics
  3. Step 3: Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) – Buyer Persona characteristics
  4. Step 4: Current Clients Audit
  5. Step 5: Current Lead Sources
  6. Step 6: Cold Outreach Setup
  7. Step 7: Tooling Audit

For example, the last two clients I worked with, both had their SDRs booking meetings within days of starting outbound:

  • One client's SDR booked their first meeting in five days.
  • The other SDR booked three meetings in six days.

These results aren’t magic—they’re the product of a structured onboarding process.

This checklist is part 1 out of 7 steps of the recruitment process we've developed over time to find, hire and onboard A player SDRs for our clients. I'll talk more about these steps in the following issues of the newsletter!

I haven't done a proper Newsletter in a while. So if this email didn’t hit the mark for you, feel free to unsubscribe.

Otherwise, if you’re sticking around, just hit reply and let me know if this was helpful - it will improve deliverability and make sure future emails land in your inbox.

Enjoy recruiting your A player SDRs.
